On 22nd October, a group of Year 13 pupils participated in a beach cleanup at Edem beach in Palaio Faliro that was organised by HELMEPA, a non-profit organisation dedicated to protecting and conserving the marine environment through initiatives such as beach and sea clean-ups, as well as educational programmes. When we arrived, the beach seemed clean but we soon encountered a significant amount of waste that was relatively hidden. As a result, we collected three bags full of litter which we recycled. Participating in this beach clean-up was a really rewarding and enjoyable experience, and we are committed to continuing our efforts to clean as many coastlines in Athens as possible, in order to preserve the beauty and biodiversity of our beaches.
