On Friday 14th February, Year 10 joined SKY TV for an afforestation project on Mount Ymittos. Campion School has a proud history of environmental stewardship, with tree-planting initiatives dating back to 1985.
The day involved planting saplings of different tree species on the slopes of Ymittos. Students worked in pairs, learning the proper techniques for planting and ensuring the young trees have the best chance of survival.
However, these trips are more than just planting trees; it’s about fostering environmental awareness and responsibility. Students will gain a deeper understanding of the challenges facing the region and the importance of long-term commitment to ecological restoration. They will learn about the impact of wildfires and the ongoing efforts to rebuild affected areas.
