On Thursday 20th of March, the Year 12 embarked on a trip to Hymettus mountain to give back to the environment. Accompanied by our wonderful teachers, Mrs Kyritsis, Mrs Sikiaridi, Mr Pasios and Dr Rigopoulou, we embarked on a lovely bus trip across Athens.
Upon arriving we were met by the head organiser from “Plant a Tree” who took us up the mountainside and guided us on how to effectively plant our trees. With a wonderful view in front of us, we split off into groups and planted the variety of trees we found ourselves responsible for.
Overall we planted 100 trees!! We had a wonderful lunch after our descent down the mountain. After a successful day of tree planting, we thanked our guides and headed back to our school campus.
It felt really good to give back to the environment. It is important that we younger generations get involved in saving the environment we will be inheriting. As climate change and global warming become more and more current issues among governments and organizations, it is imperative we take action – anything we can do. Planting trees, donating to “Plant a Tree” and spreading awareness on the urgency of climate change are all actions we can take to help grow a greener tomorrow.
