Special Olympics basketball

PLAYING UNIFIED

On Monday 26th November we had the pleasure of welcoming the Special Olympics Hellas basketball team to our school for the second year. This visit was part of the 15th Annual Special Olympics European Basketball Week. Starting at 13:30, Year 12 pupils had the opportunity to play with and against the Special Olympics Hellas team, competing in 5x5 matches with mixed teams in the school’s indoor courts.

This was an extremely pleasant opportunity for both our students and the Special Olympics team as we were able to share the experience of a basketball game. The athletes of the Special Olympics team were very enthusiastic as were we, making the game even more engaging and interactive.

We would like to thank the President of Special Olympics Hellas, Ambassador Mr Dionyssios Kodellas, the Director, Mrs Artemis Vassilikopoulou, for their kind invitation to host this event, our teachers for their support as well as all the pupils who participated in the game.

We look forward to the next unified games with the Special Olympic team.
