Students vs staff touch football

On a breezy and bright Monday afternoon, the students’ touch football team took on the teachers.
After a tense opening, with both teams feeling each other out, the students were first to strike with Theo Rogakopoulos scooping on a loose pass to open up the account for the students. The teachers did not take long to reply with the same currency, scoring an intercept try of their own, courtesy of Mr Pasios. The students then took the lead again with a simple try, again to Theo, resulting from a nice inside pass from Giannis Karousos. The teachers once again managed to equalise, through some team passing, ending with Denis Nugroho receiving a pass from Mr Henderson to sprint away and score. This was the half-time score in a well balanced match.
The second half saw the students strike first again. In a nice movement, Giannis dived to score in the corner. Once again the students’ lead was short-lived, with some clever play up the blindside from Mr Henderson, sending Nicholas Hadolios in for the teachers.
With the score locked at 3-3, the students had the final say with an outstretched Gabriel Stavrakas snatching victory for the students at the death. Pleas for VAR from the teachers claiming that Gabriel had put a foot into touch before scoring, fell on deaf ears, with the referee blowing the final whistle and the students celebrating a hard-fought win.
Well done to everyone on an enjoyable afternoon.
