Peace Jam

On Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th of February, a group of Year 12 students attended the Peace Jam conference held at Deree College. This conference happens annually around the world and, this year, was held in Greece. It was a weekend filled with activities and a lively atmosphere, which made getting up uncomfortably early worth it. The students also got the opportunity to meet and talk to a Nobel Peace Laureate, Argentinian artist Adolfo Perez Esquivel, who offered inspirational stories and advice to them.
The days at the conference were broken down into four main sections: the family group sessions which were small groups of 15-20 students along with two mentors and revolved around building teamwork and co-operational skills; speeches and interaction with Nobel Peace Laureate Adolfo Perez Esquivel, where students heard his stories and shared their own experiences with each other; workshops which were larger groups of students and two presenters from external charitable organisations which focused on showing the students the work they do; and last but not least, the lunch break.

On Sunday, schools were given the chance to present their projects and ideas revolving around the idea of peace. Campion’s students had prepared the ‘Stand and Smile’ project, led by Sara Al Khashlok. This will be an online platform where teenagers can talk to peers and certified psychologists about their problems and can be helped to cope with everyday life. Overall, this was a positive experience for all who attended and many will go on to ‘save the world’.

Greetings! I know this is kinda off topic nevertheless I'd figured I'd ask. Would you be interested in trading links or maybe guest authoring a blog post or vice-versa? My site covers a lot of the same subjects as yours and I think we could greatly benefit from each other. If you're interested feel free to send me an email. I look forward to hearing from you! Fantastic blog by the way!
