Dear Parents and Staff,

It gives me great pleasure to inform you that Mr Duncan Rose will take over as Campion School’s new Head in September 2020.

As you are aware the school engaged Odgers Berndtson, one of the world’s top executive search firms, to support the school’s Trustees in finding a worthy successor to Stephen Atherton. Together we ran a rigorous selection process which culminated in four strong candidates, drawn from an impressive list of over 80 applicants, who visited Campion for two days earlier this month.

Duncan Rose impressed all the Trustees with his international background and perspective, his energy, organisational and communication skills and his consultative leadership approach. The choice of Duncan has the unanimous support of the Trustees’ selection committee, the wider Board and our advisors.

Duncan Rose BC WL17 1947 1Duncan has had a distinguished career in education over the last twenty years and has held senior management positions as Head of the Secondary school at the Cairo English School and at the Shanghai Rego International School and he was Head of the Senior School at the highly respected Grange School in Santiago, Chile. Duncan joins Campion from the British College of Brazil where he has been Principal since 2017.

Duncan is thrilled to be joining Campion school and says: “I am absolutely delighted and honoured to have been appointed the next Head of Campion School. As soon as I entered the campus it was clear to me that Campion is a very special school. Talking with students, staff, trustees and others I have been struck by the deep bond between them and the love and affection everyone has for the school. Quite rightly, Campion is proud of the education it delivers and the outstanding start it gives to its students as they venture into their adult lives. I am fully committed to ensuring Campion continues to offer the all-round education that enables each individual student to achieve their full academic potential while developing responsible citizens within the context of Greece and beyond. To lead a successful school and work with a wonderful community to take that school through the next stage of its development will be a privilege I am very much looking forward to.”

Duncan will of course have time over the next 8 months to have a thorough hand over from Stephen Atherton. Duncan is married to Nina and they have three girls, two of whom are heading to UK universities over the next two years.

I am sure you will join me in welcoming Duncan and his family to Campion and in wishing them every success here.

Yours sincerely,

Jeremy Downward

Board Chairman
